Starting at 20:30, the Night Rider MTB Challenge is a non-timed, checkpoint adventure. With a range of distances from 5km to 50km the event has something for all abilities, and with friendly checkpoints and a party atmosphere at the finish line, this night time ride will provide all participants with a great evening’s entertainment.
The Night Rider forms a part of The Trail Festival, held at the Isle of Wight Mountain Bike Centre on Shorwells’ Cheverton Farm, Isle of Wight.
Equipped with a basic map and stamp card, participants will navigate their way from checkpoint to checkpoint, collecting stamps as they go. Each distance has a required amount of stamps to be collected, before participants make their way back to the final checkpoint and the finish line.
***Please note: Participants will use the provided map to navigate the course. The course is designed to be simple to navigate, but please be aware that it is NOT physically marked with signage or arrows. All distances are approximate and may be slightly modified in accordance with the conditions of the terrain on the day.

WHAT'S THE TERRAIN LIKE?
The off-road courses cover chalk trails, farm tracks and bridleways, with some small sections of open grassland. Every checkpoint is on a main track to make it easy to spot. The terrain around the venue is quite hilly, although we have designed the courses where possible to minimise the amount of hills involved and as such are accessible to all levels of fitness. As a non-timed event, we recommend that all participants complete the course at a level of exertion that they are comfortable with.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
It is your responsibility as a participant to ensure you are properly equipped to take on the course.
We advise using a mountain bike that is in good order and ideally been recently serviced. The course is suitable for CX bikes too.
Helmets are mandatory and must be fastened securely at all times when on your bike. You must have suitable lights as most of this event will be after dark. We also strongly advise that you carry a basic tool kit including puncture repair or spare tubes, a mobile phone, windproof/waterproof jacket and some snack food and water.
Clothing is personal choice, however please consider that parts of the course are on open downland and shelter may be limited. Inclement weather is a real possibility, so please come equipped for a range of potential weather scenarios. We recommend wearing reflective outerwear.
Early bird entries are available until 12th March 2018, Standard entries are available until 12th May 2018. Pre-entry closes at 2200 on 12th May 2018.
On the day entries may be available, but will be subject to a £5.00 surcharge.
